BIO: Jason Jin-Hyung Bae was born in 1991, in Daejeon, South Korea. He is currently 3rd yearunder graduate student of Bachelor of Music in University of Auckland, under the tutelage of Ms Rae de Lisle for past 9 years. He was accepted as a student and have spent five summers in the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School since 2007 until 2011 under the tutelageof Ms Ann Schein.

Jason was the 1st Prize Winner of the 2008 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York and as a result, he had the debut recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, in New York City, on May 2008. In that same year, he was awarded as NewZealand Young Performer of the Year. In 2009, he was the 2nd Prize Winner with the BestChopin Prize at the Lev Vlassenko International Piano Competition in Brisbane, Australia. In2010, he was the 1st Prize Winner of the University of Auckland Gala Concerto Competition, performing Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto.

He debuted as a soloist with 2010 New Zealand National Youth Symphony Orchestraunder the baton of Maestro Rossen Milanov performing Stravinsky Concerto for Piano and Winds. The New Zealand Herald reviewed him as “an imperturbable soloist”. His concerto apperances include; New Zealand National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra of Australia, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, Auckland SymphonyOrchestra, Auckland Youth Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Bach Musica Chamber Symphony Orchestra.

Jason has performed for the high profiles such as the President of the European Union, Jose Manuel Barroso, Former Governor-General of New Zealand, Rt. Hon. Anand Satyanand, Former Prime Minister - Helen Clark. He has also performed in the masterclasses for world-renowned artists such as Claude Frank, Joan Havill, Piers Lane, John O’Conor, John Perry,Ann Schein, Marcella Crudeli, Christopher Hinterhuber, Noriko Ogawa, Michael Houston and Stephen de Pledge. His recitals have taken place in Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga,Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Aspen and New York City.
